TP-Link Tapo S112 is a miniature module equipped with two independent relays, designed for installation in standard electrical boxes. The device offers two main operating modes, making it a universal component of a Smart Home installation:

• Roller shutter controller mode: The module manages the motors of external roller shutters, curtains, and awnings. It allows for setting the opening level by percentage and for automation based on schedules (e.g., raising the roller shutters at sunrise). It also features a hardware obstacle detection function – the drive automatically stops when it encounters resistance, protecting the mechanism from damage.

• Switch Mode (Two-Channel): The device operates as a double relay, allowing for independent control of two separate electrical circuits (e.g., two-zone lighting in the living room) from a single flush-mounted box.

The device has a built-in energy measurement system that independently calculates power consumption for each of the two channels and allows for estimating operating costs (the measurement only works with AC power). The model also features Zero-Crossing technology. The circuit closes precisely when the AC voltage in the mains reaches 0 V. This eliminates the problem of sparking and contact burnout, significantly extending the module's lifespan by up to 10 years, especially when controlling LED lighting or motors. The entire system is protected by hardware overload and overheating protection.

The device communicates with the network via a Wi-Fi module (2.4 GHz). Native support for the Matter standard guarantees seamless integration and operation within the Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings ecosystems, enabling the creation of various schedules, voice control, and remote control and scene activation. The additional Bluetooth chip allows for initial configuration and – crucial in emergency situations – direct, local control of relays from a smartphone when the home router loses its internet connection.
