Ubiquiti Recessed Entry Sensor (USL-Entry-R) is a discreet door open/close sensor designed for concealed, recessed installation. The device is ideal for smart homes, offices, and commercial facilities. Detection is handled by an integrated reed switch that interacts with a compact magnet measuring ⌀22 x 12.1 mm mounted in the door leaf.
The device is powered by a single CR2 (3V) lithium battery, delivering up to 3 years of operation based on an average of ten opening or closing events per day. For enhanced security, the sensor is equipped with an anti-tamper switch – the system immediately sends notifications to users in the event of an unauthorized removal attempt. The polycarbonate housing also features a hidden function button, allowing users to manually wake the sensor from sleep mode, force synchronization with the gateway, or quickly locate the unit within the management system.
Wireless communication is powered by the proprietary SuperLink protocol, operating in the 865.1–869.5 MHz band in Europe. This technology achieves a wireless range of up to 2 km under optimal conditions, with the manufacturer recommending installation in wooden doors to maintain maximum signal strength. The main module measures 44 x 22 x 74.5 mm and weighs 34 g with the battery installed. The hardware is rated for indoor operation at temperatures ranging from 0°C to 40°C.

The sensor is intended for doors that accommodate recessed (bored-hole) mounting and can be used in residential, corporate, and commercial properties. For deployments requiring maximum wireless transmission range, installation in wooden doors is recommended.
The sensor communicates via the proprietary, long-range SuperLink wireless protocol, engineered for dependable and secure connectivity. Integration with UniFi Protect requires a compatible SuperLink Gateway. Under optimal line-of-sight conditions, SuperLink delivers an operational range of up to 2 km (1.2 miles).
By default, the device operates in an energy-saving sleep mode. Pressing the button temporarily wakes the sensor and forces a status synchronization with the SuperLink Gateway. Additionally, pressing the button highlights the device in the equipment list within the UniFi Protect application, making it easy to identify in the system.
The Recessed Entry Sensor features an integrated tamper switch that instantly alerts users if any attempt is made to dismount, pull the sensor out of its recess, or otherwise tamper with the unit.
Battery runtime primarily depends on the daily volume of door open and close cycles. Based on an average of 10 cycles per day, the battery can last up to 3 years. Actual operating life may decrease in low-temperature environments or under substantially heavier traffic patterns.
