Ubiquiti UMR Ultra – ultra-compact mobile LTE router with Wi-Fi and Ethernet
An ultra-compact, managed LTE Category 4 mobile router with built-in Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and two Fast Ethernet ports. Designed for IoT and mobile use cases, it offers automatic failover between LTE, wired WAN, and Wi-Fi WAN, as well as flexible DC/USB-C power options .
Product Description
Ubiquiti UMR Ultra is a compact and power-efficient LTE router designed for remote IoT deployments that require reliable connectivity and low power consumption . Optimized for mobile installations, it excels where traditional routers are unsuitable – from distributed sensor networks and service vehicles to mobile offices and remote locations with limited infrastructure.
The device integrates multiple network interfaces, ensuring versatile connectivity. It features a built-in 4G LTE Cat 4 modem capable of speeds up to 150 Mbps downlink and 50 Mbps uplink . It supports a wide range of LTE bands (e.g., B1, B3, B7, B20, B28) and 3G WCDMA, enabling near-global cellular coverage . In addition to cellular, UMR Ultra includes two 10/100 Mbps RJ45 ports and a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 4 radio, allowing simultaneous support for wired devices and wireless clients.
UMR Ultra supports multi-WAN with intelligent automatic failover between LTE, Ethernet WAN, and Wi-Fi-as-WAN . This allows the router to prioritize wired or Wi-Fi WAN and instantly switch to LTE during outages, maintaining consistent connectivity – critical for systems like mobile CCTV or field operations. Built-in VPN functionality (site-to-site and client modes) enables secure integration with enterprise networks .
Another major strength of the UMR Ultra is its flexible power input and industrial-grade build. The router supports dual power input via USB Type-C (5 V DC, 2 A) or 4-pin DC connector (9–30 V input range) . This flexibility allows it to be powered from a standard USB charger, power bank, or vehicle/solar battery system. Maximum power consumption is only ~5.7 W , making it ideal for battery-powered setups. UMR Ultra is hardened for challenging environments with a -30°C to 70°C operating range . The compact housing (84 × 82 × 26 mm) is made of polycarbonate and aluminum, providing durability without bulk. The included DIN rail/wall mount bracket allows for easy installation in cabinets or vehicles. Three detachable antennas are included: two for LTE (SMA) and one for Wi-Fi (RP-SMA) – all of which can be upgraded to high-gain external antennas as needed. A status LED (blue/white) and reset button are present on the enclosure.
The UMR Ultra is fully manageable through a local interface (via Ethernet or Wi-Fi) and can also be remotely managed using **Ubiquiti Mobility Cloud**, a centralized platform for mobile routers. A 180-day free trial of Mobility Cloud is included , after which optional subscriptions (monthly or yearly) enable persistent remote access. This makes UMR Ultra ideal for fleet deployments or nationwide mobile networks.
