Ubiquiti Retrofit Reader Fingerprint - Access Reader with Fingerprint Scanner and Keypad
Ubiquiti Retrofit Reader Fingerprint (UA-Retrofit-Reader-Fingerprint-B) is a black access control reader designed to work with the using existing two-wire cabling. It supports fingerprint authentication, PIN codes, NFC cards and key fobs, Touch Pass, Apple/Google Wallet, and mobile device unlocking, allowing a single access point to offer multiple user authentication methods. This enables existing access control systems to be upgraded without installing new cables while providing users with several authentication options through a single reader.
The device communicates with the Retrofit Hub via RS-485 and uses the OSDP v2 protocol. The fingerprint scanner supports enrollment of up to 300 users. Biometric data is processed and stored locally on the UniFi console running UniFi Access and then securely synchronized with hubs and readers without being transmitted to external servers. The built-in NFC module operates at 13,56 MHz and supports common standards, including ISO 14443A, 14443B, ISO 15693, NFC Tag 1-5, and MIFARE Classic. The NFC reading range is less than 30 mm. The reader also features Bluetooth 4.2 and a speaker.
The enclosure is made of polycarbonate and aluminum alloy, while the mounting component is made of steel. The device has an IP55 protection rating and can be installed both indoors and outdoors. The reader can be mounted directly on a wall or an electrical box, with optional installation using a . A is also available.
The device operates on a 12 V DC power supply, with a maximum power consumption of 3,5 W. It can operate at temperatures from -30 to 50°C and relative humidity levels from 5 to 90% without condensation.
Note: Operation requires a UniFi Retrofit Hub running firmware version 1.6.4.0 or later and UniFi OS 6.0 RC. The reader is not compatible with third-party access controllers and is not supported in UID Enterprise.

Ubiquiti Retrofit Reader Fingerprint – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The Retrofit Reader Fingerprint supports fingerprint recognition, Touchpass, NFC cards, PIN codes, and unlocking via the UniFi Endpoint mobile app.
The Retrofit Reader Fingerprint must be connected via RS-485. The reader must be connected directly to the designated ports on the Retrofit Hub.
No. The Retrofit Reader Fingerprint works exclusively with the Retrofit Hub.
Make sure the Retrofit Hub is running firmware version 1.6.4.0 or later.
The Retrofit Reader Fingerprint supports up to 300 users with enrolled fingerprints.
Synchronizing a full database of 300 fingerprints may take up to 15 minutes.
During synchronization, the reader's LED alternates between blue and white.
The reader uses a capacitive fingerprint sensor that performs best with clean, dry fingers. Moisture, sweat, or dust may interfere with accurate fingerprint recognition.
For optimal performance, ensure your finger is clean and dry before scanning. Enrolling more than one finger is also recommended, particularly when the device is installed outdoors or used in high-traffic areas.
Yes. The Retrofit Reader Fingerprint has an IP55 protection rating and can be installed outdoors.
For optimal fingerprint recognition performance, installing the reader in a sheltered location that minimizes direct exposure to rain and moisture is recommended.
Once a fingerprint is enrolled, the data is processed and stored on the UniFi Console running the UniFi Access application.
The data is securely synchronized with Access Control Hubs and readers to enable fingerprint verification. It is not transmitted to third-party servers, and all configuration and processing remain local.
No. The Retrofit Reader Fingerprint is not supported in UID Enterprise.
For multi-site deployments, UniFi Fabrics is recommended to centralize user management and synchronize access credentials across locations.
