Accessories and add-ons:
Ubiquiti Network Video Recorder G2 – 1U Network Video Recorder (30x 4K Cameras, 50x 2K Cameras)
Ubiquiti Network Video Recorder G2 (UNVR-G2) is a 1U rackmount network video recorder designed to manage UniFi Protect, UniFi Access (supporting over 150 controllers), and UniFi Connect systems. The device features four 2.5" or 3.5" HDD/SSD drive bays, providing ample recording storage and data redundancy. The NVR supports up to 60 HD cameras, 50 2K cameras, or 30 4K cameras simultaneously. When utilizing the integrated video output, these limits are 40, 30, and 20 cameras, respectively. High network throughput and fast local connectivity are delivered via two interfaces: one 10G SFP+ port and one 2.5 GbE RJ45 LAN port.
Data processing and video analytics are driven by an octa-core Qualcomm Kryo processor paired with 8 GB of RAM. The recorder features hardware-accelerated Edge AI capabilities, enabling advanced object indexing, event search, Person Re-Identification (Person ReID), and image-based search (computing performance can be further expanded using optional or modules). An integrated HDMI port with Viewport functionality enables direct display output to a connected monitor, supporting up to 16 simultaneous 4K streams locally.
The 19" 1U rackmount chassis is built entirely from SGCC steel. Dimensions are 442.4 x 43.7 x 325 mm, with a weight of 6 kg (without drives). The device is powered by an internal 100W AC power supply (with a dedicated power budget of up to 75W for the drives). Power redundancy is supported via an auxiliary DC input for connecting the external backup power system. For secure installation in a server rack, the use of the included rackmount rails is recommended to properly support the weight of operational drives.

Ubiquiti Network Video Recorder G2 – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Yes. Network Video Recorder G2 supports the UniFi Access platform, enabling unified management of video surveillance and physical door access control from a single device.
Yes. Network Video Recorder G2 supports migration from existing UniFi Protect environments. The migration process depends on system topology, backup availability, and firmware versions.
Network Video Recorder G2 features native Edge AI functionality:
- Natural language search
- Object indexing via the Find Anything tool
- Person recognition and re-identification (Person ReID)
- Search by Image
Yes. In demanding deployments with high camera activity, adding one or more AI Key modules is recommended to expand processing headroom. This minimizes Edge AI processing latency and prevents missed events.
Additionally, the AI Key module enables AI Summaries, audio transcription, and face and license plate recognition for G4 and G5 series cameras.
Yes. The AI Port module adds smart event detections as well as face and license plate recognition for third-party cameras and legacy UniFi camera models.
Yes. The device includes an integrated Viewport output via the built-in HDMI port. Within the Protect application, you can configure multi-view camera layouts and assign them to the HDMI port for direct, real-time live monitoring.
The unit features high-bandwidth 10G SFP+ and 2.5 GbE RJ45 network interfaces, ensuring smooth video recording and multi-user concurrent playback. It supports deployments up to:
- 60 HD, 50 2K, or 30 4K cameras in standard standalone mode
- 40 HD, 30 2K, or 20 4K cameras when the integrated HDMI Viewport output is actively used
For secure installation, using the included rack rails or dedicated UniFi Sliding Rack Rails is strongly recommended. Standard front rack ears can support the bare chassis, but total weight increases considerably once hard drives are installed. In 2-post racks that do not support sliding rails, use a rack shelf to provide bottom support.
