MikroTik FTC21-ups – Outdoor Fiber Optic Converter with Built-in UPS

MikroTik FTC21-ups is a weather-resistant (IP67) fiber optic converter designed to eliminate problems with unstable power supply. The device is equipped with one 2.5Gb SFP slot and two Gigabit Ethernet ports. The main purpose of this model is to prevent device restarts, link renegotiations, and connection interruptions caused by voltage drops or momentary power outages.

Inside the housing is a built-in battery based on two lithium-ion cells (Li-Ion NCA 18650, 2500 mAh). These batteries are intelligently managed – they remain inactive during delivery, activate upon initial startup, and can also be remotely switched to ship mode via the SwOS system. Depending on the load, the batteries can support the converter itself for up to 6 hours. When powering additional devices (e.g., access points), this time is shorter and depends on the power consumption of the device.

The FTC21-ups also offers advanced management features such as VLAN support, SNMP reporting, basic traffic shaping, and packet filtering using access control lists (ACLs) for layers 2, 3, and 4. The device supports two power modes: PoE-in (802.3af/at, 48-57V) or DC jack (24-57V). The second Ethernet port (Ether2) provides a Passive PoE output with the option to select 24V or 48V via a physical hardware switch. Bright LED indicators inform about power, PoE, and port activity status.
