MikroTik KNOT Embedded LTE4 – Industrial IoT Gateway with LTE Modem
MikroTik KNOT Embedded LTE4 (EC25-EU&KNe) is a compact, industrial network gateway designed for all types of industrial automation. Designed as an "embedded" solution, the device's small size and IP20 rating make it suitable for installation inside control cabinets, vending machines, multimedia kiosks, and Smart City infrastructure. The gateway provides Category 4 LTE cellular connectivity (up to 150 Mbps download and up to 50 Mbps upload), while maintaining compatibility with 3G and 2G networks. The entire system runs RouterOS v7 (Level 3), powered by an ARM Cortex-A7 processor (1.2 GHz) and 256 MB of RAM.
This model is distinguished by its extensive IoT functionality in a miniature format. The device is equipped with a GPIO header that supports digital and analog inputs. The pins are 24V tolerant, allowing direct integration with industrial sensors and monitoring systems. The KNOT Embedded LTE4 also offers Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity for collecting data from BLE sensors (e.g., asset tracking) and a GNSS module (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo) for localization. The device has one Gigabit Ethernet port with PoE-in support (802.3af/at) and alternative power supply via USB-C.
The device is designed to operate in harsh temperature conditions (from -40°C to 70°C). The gateway allows for the connection of external antennas (SMA connectors for GNSS and an LTE antenna connector), allowing the installer to select the optimal antennas for the specific installation environment. A Nano SIM card slot and eSIM support provide telecommunications flexibility. Thanks to the RouterOS system, the KNOT can function as a main router, a backup link, or an advanced IoT data concentrator with VPN and firewall support.
