The TP-Link Tapo H100 is a central smart home hub that supports up to 64 devices. Sub-GHz technology ensures stable coverage and longer sensor life. Equipped with a 90 dB siren and doorbell, it enables the creation of intelligent automations and effective alarm signaling.
TP-Link Tapo H100 – Smart Home Hub with Built-in Siren and Doorbell
TP-Link Tapo H100 is the central hub of the Smart Home ecosystem, acting as a communication bridge between your home router and battery-powered Tapo sensors and wireless buttons. The device operates on a Plug & Play basis. Play and plugs directly into a standard electrical outlet. The hub connects to the main home network via Wi-Fi in the 2.4 GHz band, while communicating with its assigned small accessories using the energy-efficient Sub-GHz (868 MHz) radio protocol. Using this lower frequency provides significantly better range and signal penetration through walls compared to standard Wi-Fi, and also reduces the load on the main router. Most importantly, this technology extends the battery life of connected sensors by up to 10 times. A single hub can support up to 64 peripheral devices.
Besides its networking function, the Tapo H100 also functions as a doorbell. The device has a built-in speaker that can operate in two main modes. First, as an indoor doorbell (simply pair it with a compatible wireless button or Tapo video intercom) – it offers 19 different melodies and a three-level volume control. Secondly, the hub acts as an internal alarm siren with a maximum volume of 90 dB. It can be automatically triggered when motion sensors detect movement or when windows are opened, and can also serve as an acoustic warning in the event of flooding or a drastic temperature drop. A physical button on the housing makes it easy to quickly silence an ongoing alarm.
The hub is necessary for the operation of smaller sensors (e.g., T100, T110) and for building advanced automation (Smart Actions). By collecting data from all sensors, the central unit coordinates the system and allows for automatic control of other devices in the home – for example, turning on smart light bulbs when entering a room or turning off a smart socket after a specific event (all the above-mentioned sensors are sold separately). To ensure fire safety, the device housing is made of flame-retardant polycarbonate with a high UL94-V0 rating.
