The TP-Link Tapo A201 is a 2.5W solar panel that powers Tapo battery-powered cameras. Thanks to its 4-meter cable and monocrystalline cells, just 45 minutes of sunlight a day is enough to power the device for a full day, even if the camera is in the shade.
TP-Link Tapo A201 – Outdoor Solar Panel for Wireless Cameras (2.5 W)
TP-Link Tapo A201 is a compact solar panel designed as a dedicated, maintenance-free power source for battery-powered cameras from the Tapo ecosystem. The device is built using high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon cells, which, with a maximum output power of 2.5 W (voltage 5.2 V), enable efficient conversion of solar radiation energy. According to calculations for optimal conditions, just 45 minutes of direct sunlight is enough to charge the battery for a standard camera's full 24-hour operation. The module is designed to power only one device at a time.
The panel has an integrated short 0.25 m cable, to which the included 3.8 m extension cable can be connected. This provides a total range of over 4 meters, allowing the camera to be mounted hidden or in the shade (e.g., under a deep roof), while the panel itself is routed to a location with maximum sunlight. The device is equipped with a USB-C connector by default, but the manufacturer has ensured backward compatibility with older devices using the included Micro USB adapter, which is equipped with appropriate seals.
The panel's design is IP65-rated, protecting the circuits from dust and rain. The photovoltaic module can operate in a wide temperature range from -20°C to 45°C, continuously supplying power to connected devices. However, it's important to remember an important technical aspect regarding operation itself – due to the physical and chemical limitations of the lithium-ion cells inside the cameras themselves, it is recommended to charge their batteries in positive temperatures (between 0°C and 45°C). The set also includes a fully adjustable wall mount, allowing you to precisely adjust the angle of the cover relative to the sun.

1. Only one camera can be connected to the solar panel. The Tapo solar panel is compatible with all battery-powered Tapo cameras. Due to the unique magnetic base of the Tapo C425 model, this camera is the only one that must be mounted separately from the panel.
2. The 45-minute sunlight duration is based on typical environmental conditions (1000W/m², 25℃, AM1.5) and a specific operating scenario (100 events per day). Actual duration may vary.
3. Actual power output may vary depending on the mounting location, weather conditions, temperature, and other environmental factors.
