TP-Link Tapo C400 is a wireless IP camera designed for monitoring places where there is no access to electrical outlets and LAN network cabling. The device records images in 1080p resolution (at 15 frames per second) using a 1/3" CMOS sensor. The wide-angle lens allows for observation of an area with a diagonal width of 116.7°. After dark, the camera can record in classic black and white mode using infrared LEDs with a range of up to 10 meters, or in full color thanks to two built-in LED illuminators emitting white light.

Power is provided by a built-in 5200 mAh battery, which is charged using a standard power supply (5V/1A). The described set does not include a solar panel. Users can purchase the panel separately or choose a different version that has solar module included. The camera communicates with the home network via Wi-Fi in the 2.4 GHz band (Wi-Fi 4), and video transmission is H.264 compressed. It's worth remembering that, as a smart home solution, this model does not support ONVIF or RTSP streaming, which prevents it from being connected to a traditional NVR.

To minimize false notifications from blowing branches or shadows, the camera uses a hardware PIR motion sensor (with a 120° viewing angle) and artificial intelligence algorithms that recognize human silhouettes. Video recordings can be saved locally on a microSD card up to 512 GB (not included) or in the cloud. Tapo Care (paid subscription required).

The IP65-rated housing effectively protects the equipment from rain and dust, enabling operation in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 45°C. Thanks to the built-in microphone and speaker, the user can conduct conversations with people standing in front of the lens (two-way audio) and, in emergency situations, trigger the integrated 70 dBA siren.
