Ubiquiti Environmental Sensor (USL-Environmental) is a battery-powered sensor designed for integration with the UniFi Protect ecosystem. The device uses the proprietary SuperLink wireless protocol, operating in the sub-GHz band (865.1–869.5 MHz for the EU region), enabling stable data transmission over a distance of up to 2 km. The use of frequencies lower than 1 GHz ensures significantly better obstacle penetration and connection stability compared to standard Wi-Fi solutions, which is crucial for monitoring large halls, warehouses, and server infrastructure.
The device integrates four independent measurement modules into a single housing: temperature, humidity, ambient light intensity, and a water leak detector. The sensor's functionality is enhanced by a built-in 3.5 mm AUX (TRS/TS) port, which allows for the connection of an external water leak probe, enabling monitoring in difficult-to-access areas, such as under racks or underfloor installations. Full management and configuration of alarm thresholds is performed via the UniFi Protect app (Web/iOS/Android), providing immediate notification when defined parameters are exceeded.
The polycarbonate construction features an IPX5 rating, guaranteeing resistance to splashes and moisture. Thanks to advanced power optimization (maximum 34.9 mW), a single CR123A lithium battery provides up to 6 years of continuous operation without the need for replacement. The mounting system includes a magnetic holder, adhesive tape, and screw mounting, allowing for quick installation on almost any indoor surface.

Ubiquiti Environmental Sensor – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Battery life depends primarily on the reporting rate configured for each sensor. At the default setting of 5 minutes, the sensor will last up to 5 years, and with less frequent reporting, it can extend up to 6 years.
Actual battery life may be shorter in low temperatures or if the sensor frequently reports leaks and/or out-of-range events.
The sensor is equipped with multiple leak detection points:
- Flood detection: Two sets of sensing points on the bottom of the device detect the presence of standing water. Water.
- Drip Detection: A dedicated set of measuring points on the top of the device detects leaks from above, such as dripping pipes or condensation.
- External Probes: The 3.5mm port allows you to connect compatible third-party leak detection probes for extended range.
Because the sensor typically operates in a low-power sleep mode, pressing the button temporarily wakes it up and forces it to sync with the gateway. SuperLink.
When pressed, the sensor also highlights on the device page in UniFi Protect, making it easier to identify the device.
You can configure personalized leak notifications in the Alarm Manager settings. Once configured, UniFi Protect immediately sends a push notification or webhook and logs the event in the dashboard.
