The Ubiquiti Relay is an I/O relay for the UniFi Protect system, using the SuperLink protocol with a range of up to 2 km. It features two digital inputs (dry contacts) for monitoring sensors and two relay outputs for controlling devices such as gates or lighting. Powered by 12–48V DC, it supports DIN rail mounting.
Ubiquiti Relay (USL-Relay) – Compact I/O Relay
Ubiquiti Relay (USL-Relay) is an input/output (I/O) module designed to act as a wireless bridge between the UniFi Protect ecosystem and third-party sensors and devices. The device is based on the proprietary SuperLink connectivity protocol, offering a stable wireless range of up to 2 kilometers in open space. Please note that the SuperLink Gateway is required for proper operation of the module.
The interface is divided into inputs and outputs, which can be independently configured via the application:
-
Two digital inputs (I1, I2): They operate based on a dry contact with built-in 5V TVS surge protection. They are used to monitor the status of external devices such as door and window contacts, motion sensors, physical light switches, and automation buttons.
-
Two relay outputs (O1, O2, COM connector): Potential-free relays capable of controlling DC (12–48V DC) and AC (12–240V AC) circuits with a maximum load of 10A per port (UL total max: 12A, IEC total max: 16A). They allow you to activate alarm sirens, doorbells, garage door controllers, lighting, and water shut-off valves.
The outputs can support various types of electrical loads: resistive (e.g., light bulbs, heaters), capacitive (electronic power supplies), and inductive (motors, fans, transformers). For the latter, the manufacturer recommends using appropriate suppression components (e.g., RC suppressors/snubbers) to protect the relay contacts. The entire automation is managed via the Alarm Manager tool built into the UniFi Protect app, which allows you to directly link input actions to corresponding output responses.
The module is powered by a voltage ranging from 12-48V DC, allowing it to be directly connected to standard alarm system power supplies, battery systems, or industrial DC power sources. Thanks to its miniature polycarbonate housing (50 x 47.6 x 28 mm) and a variety of mounting options (screws, adhesive tape, or DIN rail), the relay fits perfectly into tight spaces in switchboards and control panels.
Key features:
-
Long range: SuperLink wireless protocol guarantees a stable connection over a distance of up to 2 km (requires SuperLink Gateway).
-
Flexible I/O interfaces: Two independent inputs (dry contact) for collecting signals from sensors and two relay outputs.
-
Wide device compatibility: Ability to control locks, gates, sirens, and lighting, with support for resistive, capacitive, and inductive loads.
-
Universal power supply: Supports input DC current in the range of 12–48V DC with built-in thermal protection that activates at 85°C.
-
Versatile mounting: Included accessories enable efficient installation on flat surfaces or on a standard DIN rail in control cabinets.

Ubiquiti Relay - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The Relay supports a wide input voltage range from 12V to 48V DC. This allows it to be powered by standard alarm system power supplies, battery systems, or industrial DC power sources.
The Relay supports DIN rail mounting and wall mounting using screws or adhesive tape. This allows for flexible installation inside electrical cabinets, control panels, or directly on flat surfaces near connected devices.
The Relay is equipped with:
- 2 dry contact inputs for monitoring external devices or sensors
- 2 relay outputs for switching connected equipment
Each input and output can be independently configured in the UniFi app Protect.
Relay outputs can be directly linked to input actions or controlled from the UniFi Protect app using the Alarm Manager.
The relay outputs support dry contact switching, making them compatible with many automation and security devices, such as:
- Alarm sirens
- Third-party intercom chimes
- Garage door controllers
- Lighting control systems
- Water shut-off valves
Always verify the electrical requirements of the device before connecting.
Relay outputs support switching a wide range of electrical loads commonly used in automation and safety systems, including:
- Resistive loads: e.g., light bulbs, heaters, or other purely resistive devices.
- Capacitive loads: e.g., electronic equipment or devices with capacitor banks.
- Inductive loads: e.g., transformers, fans, motors, and household appliances.
When switching inductive loads, it is recommended to use appropriate suppression components, such as an RC snubber, to reduce electrical interference and protect the contacts. relay.
The inputs are designed for potential-free signals (dry contact) and can monitor devices such as:
- Door or window opening sensors (reed switches)
- Motion sensors
- Light switches
- Pushbuttons (monostable)
- Feedback contacts (confirming status) in connected devices
- Other sensors automation
