Ubiquiti Motion Sensor (USL-Motion) is a wireless motion sensor designed for integration with the UniFi Protect ecosystem. The device offers two detection modes depending on the mounting method. Horizontal mounting monitors the immediate surroundings at a distance of up to 1.5 meters, while vertical mounting offers a range of up to 6 meters and has a built-in pet immunity function. This significantly reduces the risk of false alarms when installed in a home with pets.
The sensor is equipped with the SuperLink wireless communication protocol. This technology (operating in Europe at a frequency of 865.1–869.5 MHz) allows for a signal range of up to 2 kilometers. Furthermore, the highly energy-efficient interface allows the device, powered by a single CR123A lithium battery (power consumption of 22.6 mW), to operate flawlessly for up to 6 years on a single cell.
The device's design allows for discreet installation. The slim, polycarbonate housing weighs just 45 grams and measures just over 9 centimeters long. The kit includes dedicated adapters for classic (flat wall) or corner mounting using adhesive tape or screws. Additionally, the module is equipped with a physical tamper switch that will immediately inform the system of any unauthorized attempt to remove the sensor.

Battery life depends on how many motion events the Motion Sensor detects. At an average of 10 events per day, the battery lasts up to 6 years.
The Motion Sensor supports both vertical and horizontal mounting. For the detection range in each orientation, refer to the Installation Guide.
When mounted vertically, the Motion Sensor will not detect animals under 0.5 m tall.
The Motion Sensor normally operates in a low-power sleep mode. Pressing the function button temporarily wakes the sensor and forces it to synchronize with the SuperLink Gateway to confirm connectivity and status updates. When pressed, the sensor is also highlighted on the Devices page in UniFi Protect, making it easy to identify.
