Ubiquiti AirWire – High-Performance Network Adapter with STR MLO
Ubiquiti AirWire (U-AirWire) is a network adapter designed to fully utilize the capabilities of the WiFi 7 (802.11be) standard. An important feature of this adapter is support for STR MLO (Simultaneous Transmit and Receive Multi-Link Operation) technology. It enables simultaneous, full-duplex connections on multiple bands, which drastically reduces latency (ultra-low latency), increases range, and enables multi-gigabit transfer speeds.
The device operates on two main wireless bands: 6 GHz and 5 GHz, offering a total of 4 spatial streams (2x2 MU-MIMO for each DL/UL band). The card achieves throughput of up to 5.8 Gb/s in the 6 GHz band (with a 320 MHz channel width) and up to 4.3 Gb/s in the 5 GHz band (with a 240 MHz channel width). Integrated antennas with a gain of up to 11 dBi for both frequencies (maximum transmitting power is 20 dBm for 6 GHz and 25 dBm for 5 GHz) are responsible for the range and stability. The device also supports Wireless Meshing and real-time radio spectrum analysis.
The network card has a polycarbonate housing measuring 117 x 117 x 42.5 mm and weighing 537 grams, with a built-in 0.96" screen displaying the current device status. A USB-C port compliant with the USB 3.2 Gen2 standard is used for communication with a computer and management, serving as a fast 5 GbE network interface. Power is supplied via USB Power Delivery (USB PD 5/9/12V). Depending on your requirements, the device can operate in standard Normal mode (15W) or in Performance mode (20W), unleashing its full potential, with a maximum power consumption of 18W.

Ubiquiti Air Wire – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
AirWire is a WiFi7 (USB-C) network adapter with STR MLO (Simultaneous Transmit and Receive Multi-Link Operation) technology, designed to provide faster, more stable, and lower-latency wireless connections for PCs, Macs, and compatible mobile devices.
STR MLO (Simultaneous Transmit and Receive with Multi-Link Operation) enables full-duplex wireless communication in the 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands, providing significantly higher throughput, lower latency, and more efficient operation than traditional Wi-Fi connections.
Most modern desktops and laptops provide up to 15W of power over USB-C, which is enough to support AirWire at true speeds of 5Gbps (2.5Gbps full-duplex).
For enhanced mode, which increases performance to 10Gbps (5Gbps full-duplex), an additional 20W power adapter is recommended.
AirWire performance scales based on power availability. Due to the 15W power output limitation of some host devices, AirWire may operate in standard mode (2.5 Gbps). Connecting to a Power Delivery (PD)-enabled host with a power output greater than 20W or using the AUX port unlocks extended mode, enabling full 5Gbps throughput.
AirWire supports Windows, macOS, and Linux, and can also be used with iOS and Android devices when connected to an external power source.
Only iPhones and iPads with a native USB-C interface or Thunderbolt.
The UniFi WiFi Auto-Connect feature connects AirWire to nearby UniFi access points, using the 5 GHz and/or 6 GHz bands, if available.
The Super Antenna is a built-in directional antenna that improves Wi-Fi performance. Open it and point it towards the nearest access point for the strongest signal.
Yes. AirWire requires a UniFi WiFi access point.
It is backward compatible with older UniFi access points and still provides greater range and better connectivity. However, to enable full simultaneous Multi-Link Operation (MLO), a UniFi U7 or E7 access point is required.
